Zion Fire and Rescue Foreign Fire Insurance Board

The Illinois Foreign Fire Insurance Fund is distributed by the State of Illinois Municipal League. The League collects insurance taxes from companies outside of the state, distributing them to fire departments for needs not provided by municipalities.

The board consists of 7 trustees: the fire chief and six elected sworn members (minimum of one battalion chief, one lieutenant, and three firefighter/paramedics).

Terms
Members serve 2-year terms. Department officers are elected in odd years and firefighters/paramedics in even years. Vacancies are filled via special election. Officers elect a President, Treasurer, and Secretary after each regular election.

Meeting Dates
The board meets quarterly on the second Wednesday in March, June, September, and December at Zion Fire Station #1, 1303 27th Street, Zion, IL 60099.
