  To capture your information correctly into the Vehicle License system, bring in the Secretary of State registration form to renew or purchase your Zion vehicle sticker. If there are additional vehicles in your household registered under different names, a separate vehicle license application form must be filled out for each individual. OLD VEHICLE STICKERS EXPIRED APRIL 30, 2023

ENFORCEMENT WILL BEGIN AFTER RENEWAL – APRIL 30, 2023, SO PLEASE GET YOUR NEW STICKER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. The city requires all vehicles that are parked overnight in the City of Zion to correctly display a valid city sticker. It doesn’t matter where the car is registered; if it is parked at your home it needs a sticker. Our stickers go on sale every odd numbered year and they are good for 2 years. New residents just moving into town or any new car purchase have 30 days to purchase their stickers.

To renew your 2023-2025 vehicle stickers, download your application form from the City of Zion’s website:

1. COMPLETE THE FORM ONLINE up to 6 vehicles on a single form, (IF AUTOS ARE REGISTERED TO THE SAME OWNER).

2. A SEPARATE FORM IS REQUIRED FOR EACH SENIOR DISCOUNT IN THE SAME HOUSEHOLD – LIMIT TWO (2) IF BOTH NAMES ARE ON THE SECRETARY OF STATE REGISTRATION FORMS.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q1. I just moved into Zion, do I need a City sticker?

Yes. You have 30 days to get a sticker before the police will ticket you, and 60 days to get it before a late fee is added to the ticket.

Q2. I just traded in my old vehicle. What do I need to do to get a city sticker for the new vehicle?

• You will need to provide proof that your vehicle was traded in. The Bill of Sale showing the details of the traded vehicle, or
• Peel off the sticker from the vehicle before you trade it in, or if the vehicle was sold privately, bring the peeled off sticker in to purchase the new one. In removing the sticker it may not come off the windshield whole; however, do bring in all the pieces.
• The original receipt paid at the time the sticker for the old vehicle was purchased.

 

Q3. I am on Active Military Duty do I need a City Sticker?

Yes. Sec. 90-237. Application required. (a) Every owner or operator of a motor vehicle, motorcycle or motor bicycle registered by the secretary of state to an address in the city, or who regularly keeps such vehicle situs in the city, shall file an application with the city clerk, upon a form provided by him, setting forth the name and address of the applicant and a description of the motor vehicle, motorcycle or motor bicycle for which the license is desired. **Sticker Fees are waived for active duty military personnel only. An unexpired active duty military ID must be provided to secure the no charge status.**

Q4. Is there a Senior Citizen Discount Available?

Sec. 90-238.d-e. (d) Senior citizens of the age of 65 years to 69 years shall pay one-half the regular fee for one vehicle; additional vehicles will be charged accordingly. (e) Senior citizens of the age of 70 years or older shall be entitled to one vehicle license free of charge; additional vehicles will be charged accordingly. **Senior Citizens 65 or older must present copy of vehicle registration and valid Driver’s License identification to secure discount.**  

Q5. Who needs a Vehicle Sticker?

Sec. 90-236. Definitions. (a) The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article shall have the mean ings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning: Handicapped/disabled, for purposes of this article only, shall constitute any person who possesses handicapped license plates or disabled veteran license plates issued by the Illinois Secretary of State. Any other form, sticker or hang tag otherwise designated a handicapped/disabled status will not entitle the person to a reduced vehicle sticker fee under Section 90 – 239(a)(1). Motor vehicle includes automobiles and all other vehicles propelled otherwise than by muscular power, except traction engines and Road rollers, the cars of electric and steam railways, and other motor vehicles running only upon rails or tracks; but nothing in this article shall be construed to apply to or affect bicycles or tricycles or such other vehicles as are propelled exclusively by muscular power.
